In several
of our central banking clients, we have conducted strategy studies into the
requirements of the national payments systems, including Real Time Gross
Settlement, Scripless Securities Settlement, Automated Clearing House,
Cheque Imaging and Truncation, ATM and POS Switches and Smart Cards. In all
cases our recommendations have been accepted and implemented.
We have also conducted payments strategy studies with specific objectives,
for example to prepare for the introduction of a common currency within a
trading block. Another example is to prepare a strategy for an emerging
economy focusing on the unbanked and underbanked rural communities. A third
example is the provision of an e-payment gateway for public sector use.
Procurement
Many of our
IT strategy studies and payment system strategy studies, the next stage is
procurement of the various components and we adopt the World Bank
procurement approach in most cases as this is a tried and trusted
methodology, developed over many years, which leads to value for money
decisions in an open and transparent manner.
We have also conducted procurement projects for central banks directly funded
by aid agencies, particularly the World Bank.
Project Management
We have carried out project management assignments for a range of clients,
on a variety of projects. For example, implementation of IT strategy
recommendations; implementation of payment system strategy recommendations;
data center and telecommunications network rationalization; business process
reengineering.
